Saturday is usually the biggest news day at the combine, as QBs, RBs, and WRs work out and scouts get to put some tape all-stars to the test. And yesterday didn’t disappoint. Among other lessons, we confirmed that Jeremiyah Love is the draft’s truest blue-chipper, Ty Simpson is in the driver’s seat for QB2, and that Taylen Green is a special physical talent.
We’ll get to each of those big-name workouts—as well the other winners and disappointments from Saturday—below. I’ll also be sharing what league executives have told me about the QB class as a whole, and how it reminds them of the 2022 group.
Some quick housekeeping: In case you missed it, our latest Decision-Makers interview with Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard is available on Spotify and Netflix. We had a fascinating chat that covered Chris’s backstory, how NIL has affected the draft, the difficulty of QB scouting, and more behind-the-scenes stories from his life as a GM. It’s a conversation that you won’t want to miss.
Let’s dive in.

What Mattered on Saturday: Separating news from noise on the most notable combine performances, including Jeremiyah Love’s blue-chip workout, Carnell Tate’s “slow” 40, and Taylen Green’s special physical profile.
Back to the Tape: There’s only so much we can learn from combine workouts, but these players’ impressive on-field showings are forcing me to take a second look at their tape.
Real Talk: On Ty Simpson’s good week on and off the field, and how this QB group reminds league executives of the 2022 class.
