I’ll say this on the 2027 NFL draft class: Believe the hype. I know “just wait until next year” is (especially as it pertains to quarterbacks) a common refrain in draft circles, but 2027 really is different. I’ve spent the past few days talking with league sources to gauge how front offices view this group, and the excitement is clear: We could be looking at the most talented draft class in the history of the NFL.

In those conversations, I’ve also gotten a better feel for how the league views specific prospects at this point in the process than I ever have. So while this exercise should always be taken with a massive grain of salt (it’s called the “way-too-early” mock for a reason), know that I exhausted every resource I had to accurately depict which prospects GMs are currently eyeing as future NFL stars.

Before diving into the picks, here are a few quick housekeeping notes on my process:

  1. After initially including him in the top 10, I’ve omitted Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby from this group until there’s more clarity on his eligibility. Sorsby checked into a residential treatment program for a gambling addiction earlier this week, and the NCAA is investigating whether his conduct violated its policy.

  2. I’m always wary about giving prospects false hope this early in the draft process. While I have done my due diligence on this list of players, it’s impossible to make strong predictions about the 2027 draft until the 2026 college football season is underway. It’s also a fool’s errand to project team needs this far out, so please view this exercise as entertainment first.

The order of this mock was determined using FanDuel’s 2027 Super Bowl odds as of April 26. I made some tiebreaking votes and ensured every division was represented in the playoff pool, and also tweaked the order from 21 to 32 to reflect the NFL’s seeding rules for playoff teams.
